Aqua Vida Bringing SUP Yoga Classes to an Indoor Pool in Philly This Winter

Who says water sports are off limits come 15-degree weather?

If you never got a chance to make it to one of Aqua Vida’s SUP Yoga classes at Spruce Street Harbor Park this summer — that’s yoga on a stand-up paddleboard, if you didn’t know — all is not lost: The lovely ladies from Aqua Vida just gave us the very good news that, starting in February, they’ll be teaching SUP Yoga indoors at Drexel University’s Daskalakis Athletic Center Pool at 33rd and Market streets. Yippeeee!

They’ll be holding three classes each weekend, each with a capacity of nine. The schedule looks like this: an hourlong SUP Yoga Flow class at 4 p.m. on Saturdays and 10 a.m. on Sundays, then an hourlong SUP Fitness class — a stand-up paddleboard class that combines strength and cardio with the instability of the board for a serious calorie-burning sweat session — at 11 a.m. on Sundays.

The classes will kick off on Saturday, February 6th and will run through May 1st. A class will cost you $45 (or $30 for Drexel Recreation members), and no need to bring anything but yourself and some yoga gear or a bathing suit; Aqua Vida provides all the equipment needed for class. Just make sure to sign up early if you want in on the action — the classes are small, and if they’re anything like their series at Spruce Street Harbor Park, they’ll fill up fast. And to everyone out there who’s worried about the water being cold (I would be too), not to fear: they tell us the pool’s water is heated to a balmy 80-something degrees.
