Ex-Philadelphian artist and musician Jayson Musson returns to Fleisher/Ollman Gallery tonight for a mixed-media solo show of his stretched Coogi sweater “paintings.” Coogis are those colorful, asymmetrical, oversized sweaters everybody from Cosby to Biggie used to wear back in the day. For “The Truth in the Song,” Musson re-contextualizes the Coogi by “exploring the in-between spaces of high-art versus craft, intentional versus found abstraction, and, most significantly, the notion of ownership of African-American popular culture.”

Jayson Musson: The Truth in the Song @ Fleisher/Ollman Gallery opens Friday, April 1. Runs through May 28.
