6 Shows to See in Philly This Week: Sam Smith, Turbo Suit, Rob Thomas and More
Get our weekly picks of what to do this weekend and the latest on Philly's arts and entertainment scene.

Tuesday: Sam Smith ($145+)
Six-time Grammy-nominated British crooner Sam Smith will bring his goosebump-inducing vocals–and boyish good looks–to The Liacouras Center this week. Smith's debut studio album, In the Lonely Hour, is undoubtedly addicting, and likely to replace the role of Ben & Jerry's in breakups nationwide. Regularly priced tickets are sold out, but you can still snag seats right here. Listen before you go: "I'm Not The Only One." Tuesday, January 13th, 6 p.m., The Liacouras Center, 1176 N. Broad Street.

Wednesday: The Black Cadillacs ($8-$10)
MilkBoy will host blues-based indie rock band The Black Cadillacs this Wednesday evening. The group has adopted influences from across their home state of Tennessee, combining "Nashville’s recent brand of rock 'n' roll revival, Memphis's soul, and Knoxville's roots music" to create a sound all their own. Tickets are available for purchase online. Listen before you go: "About You." Wednesday, January 14th, 8 p.m., 21+, MilkBoy, 1100 Chestnut Street.

Thursday: Turbo Suit ($10-$12)
Electronic music group Turbo Suit–the band formerly known as Cosby Sweater–will perform at North Star Bar this Thursday. The Indianapolis trio has performed their unique brand of "funktronica" alongside other popular acts, including Pretty Lights, Umphrey’s McGee, and The Disco Biscuits. Tickets are available for purchase online. Listen before you go: "All The Rage (Turbo Suit Remix)." Thursday, January 15th, 8 p.m., 21+, North Star Bar, 2639 Poplar Street.

Friday: Corey Smith ($20-$22)
Alright country fans, we see you: Southern singer-songwriter Corey Smith will take the stage at Union Transfer this Friday. Smith has gathered a solid fan base by ignoring the "traditional country imagery of trucks and bonfires," focusing instead on "depicting truthfully the experience of growing up far from big-city sidewalks." Tickets are available for purchase online. Listen before you go: "Twenty-One." Friday, January 16th, 8 p.m., Union Transfer, 1026 Spring Garden Street.

Saturday: Kicking Down Doors, Black Horse Motel and Christopher Davis-Shannon ($10)
Boot & Saddle will host a trifecta of musical magic this Saturday, with performances by Kicking Down Doors, Black Horse Motel (pictured), and Christopher Davis-Shannon. Expect sounds that conjure traditional Americana influences, mixed with infectious blends of toe-tapping folk and smoky blues beats. Tickets are available for purchase online. Listen before you go: Davis-Shannon's "Little Black Dress." Saturday, January 17th, 8 p.m., 21+, Boot & Saddle, 1131 S. Broad Street.

Sunday: Rob Thomas ($135+)
If your '90s-centric Pandora station just hasn't been cutting it lately, Matchbox Twenty's Rob Thomas will play a special intimate show at Borgata's Music Box this Sunday. The drive is worth it: Proceeds benefit Thomas's non-profit, Sidewalk Angels Foundation, a primary supporter and sponsor of a number of no-kill animal shelters and animal rescues. Sing-along to "Push" with no shame, we know you want to. Tickets are available for purchase online. Sunday, January 18th, 9 p.m., The Music Box at Borgata, 1 Borgata Way, Atlantic City, NJ.
