Coaster Loses Power Mid-Air at Six Flags Great Adventure, Riders Had to Walk Off
Some guests at Six Flags Great Adventure got quite the ride yesterday afternoon, when a roller coaster they were riding lost power on the way up to its 233-foot peak. More from AP:
The Nitro coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson was shut down after Friday afternoon’s outage. No one was hurt. … Park personnel climbed the ride’s access stairs and helped passengers to the ground.
A park spokeswoman tells the Asbury Park Press that Nitro’s computer system stopped the ride as designed. She says all the passengers were off the ride in 23 minutes.
The ride reopened less than an hour later after safety checks.
