Opening Reception for Crowd Control Exhibition: Give us your broke, your wasted, your sweaty masses. PhilaMOCA launches its March 2014 exhibition this Friday with a rousing show celebrating Philly's thriving DIY scene. The exhibit highlights crowd-centric snapshots of the DIY community, featuring work from local photographer/WKDU DJ Yoni Kroll and five other photogs who prefer the drama of the pit to that of the stage. Opening launch features performances by Philly surf-punk band Pushin' it 2 the Limit, and American Spiritual. Friday, February 28, 7:30 p.m., $5-10 donation, PhilaMOCA, 531 North 12th Street

Friday/Saturday
SPRING!: No doubt this hellish winter has Philadelphians itching for spring like it's a new episode of Scandal. Hurry the new season's arrival with three spring-centric events this weekend: Greensgrow Farms, Kensington's urban garden and verdant haven for foodies and spade-wielders, starts its season this Saturday, so get your seeds and fresh fruit and veg fix in early. (Saturday, March 1, 10 a.m., Greensgrow Farms, 2501 East Cumberland Street.) If a round of putt-putt and a spin on a vintage carousel is more your speed, historic Franklin Square re-opens its park this Saturday as well. (Saturday, March 1, Franklin Square , 200 North 6th Street.) And of course there's the Philly spring extravaganza that is the Philadelphia Flower Show. The event, themed ARTiculture, is running through March 9. (Saturday, March 1, Pennsylvania Convention Center, 1101 Arch Street.)

Saturday
Mummers Mardi Gras:Philadelphia Mummers come out of their usual 364-day slumber for the first-ever Mummers Mardi Gras. Mummers Fancy Brigades, jugglers string bands et. al. will be in attendance at the Mardi Gras bash, with additional entertainment by a live mural artist and t-shirt artist and wares from local vendors. And, in Mardi Gras fashion, feel free to indulge in the on-site food trucks and bars. Saturday, March 1, 3 p.m., $15, The Piazza at Schmidt's, 1001 North 2nd Street

Sunday
Treasures from Korea: Arts and Culture of the Joseon Dynasty, 1392-1910: The Philadelphia Museum of Art debuts its spring exhibition this Sunday, an intense survey of 500 years of Korean art and history. Featuring over 150 pieces, many from the National Museum of Korea, the collection is the first major American exhibit to feature the artwork of the Joseon Dynasty, which accounts for 27 generations, and an incredible amount of cultural import in Korean history. Sunday, March 2, 2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

Sunday
10 Arts Philadelphia Red Carpet Party: There's no shame in watching the 86th Annual Academy Awards at home with a tub of ice cream and your own flippant commentary, but sometimes it's nice to show the town just how much better you could look than Jennifer Lawrence in that gown. Dress to impress for 10 Arts Lounge at the Ritz-Carlton's Red Carpet Party, with free snacks and drinks (!) until 7 p.m. Rub elbows with the glamorous of Philadelphia, watch the awards on the big screens, and hope no one catches you stuffing shrimp puffs into your mouth/purse. Sunday, March 2, 6 p.m., free, 10 Arts Lounge at the Ritz-Carlton, 10 Avenue of the Arts.
