This Annual Tradition is Determined to ‘Haul’ Away Food Insecurity in the Delaware Valley

For 17 years, the Toyota Tundra Food Drive has demonstrated the power of a community coming together for a common cause. Each fall, a convoy of more than 80 Toyota Tundras rolls through Philadelphia carrying thousands of pounds of food destined for Philabundance, helping provide nutritious meals to families throughout the Delaware Valley. Paul Muller, President of the Tri-State Toyota Dealers Association, discusses why this annual tradition continues to grow in both impact and importance.
Hunger remains a significant challenge across the Philadelphia region. Why is this initiative as important today as ever?
While we’ve made progress, hunger continues to affect far too many of our neighbors. According to Feeding America’s latest Map the Meal Gap report, more than 277,000 Philadelphians experience food insecurity. Behind every statistic is a family making difficult choices between groceries and other basic necessities.
That’s why our partnership with Philabundance remains so meaningful. For more than four decades, Philabundance has connected nutritious food with people who need it most across Southeastern Pennsylvania and South Jersey. The “Toyota Tundra Food Drive” allows us to support that mission in a highly visible way while encouraging others throughout the region to get involved.
What makes the Toyota Tundra Food Drive such a unique community initiative?
It’s much more than a convoy of trucks—it’s a demonstration of what can happen when dealerships, local businesses, community partners and volunteers unite behind a shared purpose.
This year, more than 80 Toyota Tundras will travel through Philadelphia carrying over 175 tons of food to Philabundance. Every truck represents another opportunity to help families facing food insecurity while shining a spotlight on an issue that deserves year-round attention. The event has become an annual tradition that reminds people that even small acts of generosity can create a tremendous collective impact.
Why has the Tri-State Toyota Dealers Association remained committed to Philabundance for 17 years?
Supporting the communities where we live and work has always been central to who we are. Access to healthy food is a basic need, and organizations like Philabundance are making an incredible difference every day.
In 2025 alone, Philabundance distributed 44 million pounds of food—including approximately 21 million pounds of fresh food—which translated into more than 36 million meals for neighbors across the region. Knowing the scale of that impact motivates our dealers to continue investing in this partnership year after year. We’re proud that the Toyota Tundra Food Drive has become a tradition that our dealers, partners and communities look forward to supporting.
Philabundance invites you to join us in our mission. Your support through donations, volunteering, and spreading the word helps us provide meals and hope to those in need. Visit philabundance.org to learn more and get involved.
