Retail news alert: The up-and-coming East Market shopping corridor is welcoming a new addition to its lineup of tenants, and this one is seriously good. Luxury furniture and accessories studio Design Within Reach is returning to Philly after a six-year hiatus and will bring some major clientele to the developing retail corridor at East Market.

But wait, it gets better. The president of Design Within Reach has revealed that he’s leased a 15,000-square-foot space that’s nearly five times the size of the brand’s former Philly location, now inhabited by Doc Marten’s at 17th and Walnut. You’ll find the new storefront at the corner of 11th and Ludlow, directly across soon-to-be MOM’s Organic Market and The Marketplace Design Center. The new Design Within Reach location hopes to bring a level of modernity to the neighborhood, with Times Square-like digital signage planned for the Market Street side.

The new Design Within Reach store will offer an exclusive collection of contemporary housewares and midcentury pieces, nicely complementing the corridor’s high-end boutiques, restaurants and residential spaces in the works. The wait isn’t long either; Design Within Reach is set to open during the first phase of East Market in early 2017.
