We’re Having a Love Affair With Shoe Clips Right Now

Dare we call them the new version of the statement earring? Here, three ways to get in on the trend.

I guess I always found shoe clips a bit, well, dated (for some reason, 18th-century doll shoes come to mind). Then I saw these Lulu Frost for J.Crew beauties pop up in J.Crew’s new arrivals section last week. And, let me tell you, they are divine. Designer Lisa Salzer crafted the deco-inspired shoe clips as a nod to estate jewelry, so they’re just as luxe as you’d imagine. We envision them being the perfect add-on when you want to up your cocktail attire to “holiday festive” on the fly—or to simply transform a pair of shoes from basic to all sorts of spangly goodness. (our Shoppist editor clipped a pair of vintage ones to amp up her Stuart Weitzman wedding shoes!) Want the real, antique thing? Etsy has plenty of cool clips (check them out here)  or, if you’re feeling crafty, round up some vintage rhinestone clip-on earrings and give this DIY version a go.

Your shoes will thank you.
