Just One Supremely Stylish Wedding at The Logan Hotel
Boho goes ballroom, with a distinctly Philly twist.
When you think of boho weddings, you might think of California brides wearing bell sleeves and fishtail braids, getting married at some scenic overlook where the Pacific laps at the cliffs. And yeah, that’s a vibe, but it’s not the only vibe. We love how this Philly couple took elements of boho style—mismatched bridesmaid dresses, hair flowers, blue indigo table runners, wood accents and more—and infused them with our city’s signature urban cool. The fact that it all went down in a classic ballroom venue means there’s even more originality to love, and you can see it all in the photos below by AGP Collective.
After graduating from Temple, Leigh Grossman was living and working in New York City. One day, while out walking in the East Village, she bumped into someone she had already traveled the world with five years before: Steve Wimmer, an old friend from Semester at Sea.
“He’s cute!” Leigh remembers thinking.
“She’s pretty!” Steve says of his (second) first impression.
As it turns out, Steve lived just two blocks away in Leigh’s same neighborhood. Their conversation was short that day, but a few weeks later, they met up yet again by chance (this time, at a mutual friend’s birthday party.) They talked and danced all night, and, soon after a Valentine’s Day first date at a ramen shop, found themselves wanting to spend all of their free time together.
Four years later, Steve and Leigh had moved to Philly. One Friday morning, while both were still in their PJs, Steve gave Leigh a riddle that lead her to a wooden box that she’d given Steve as a gift early in their relationship. Inside was the last line of the riddle, and it lead to a proposal.
A short while later, the pair wed in a modern boho wedding at The Logan Hotel. Steve and Leigh exchanged vows outdoors in the hotel courtyard, with guests encircling the chuppah in wooden cross back chairs. When it came to their dresses, Leigh had only two requests for her bridesmaids: “long, and no black.”
Come cocktail hour, the 280 guests sipped spicy margs and snacked on everything from poke bowls and oysters to pigs in a blanket and lamb chops.
Dinner (seared tuna and short rib) was served at long farmhouse-style tables dotted with white and green flowers, pops of lucite and geode, and ikat table runners. The cake—a small white number with tropical floral accents—was classic vanilla buttercream.
Steve and Leigh danced to “Cruisin” by Smokey Robinson for their first dance, and, in honor of the bride’s family, gave out Israeli snacks as favors for the wedding weekend. They honeymooned in Santorini and Mykonos, and still live in Philly.
