Heavy smoke clouds seen during the Eagles’ season opener against the Cleveland Browns turn out to have been caused by a large industrial trash fire in Camden.
The fire began some time after 1 p.m. at the Camden Iron & Metal recycling plant, located near Front and Mechanic streets, according to officials from the Camden Fire Department. The fire was said to be under control by 4 p.m., and there were no reported injuries.
Photos of the dark plumes spread via social media yesterday, the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks:
I heard what sounded like a fighter jet and now there is smoke rising from an area in the city. What's going on?
