Report: Chris Christie Fetched Trump’s McDonald’s Order

The New Yorker described Chris Christie as Donald Trump’s “manservant” on the campaign trail.

The New Yorker has a fascinating article this week on the Republican Party’s Donald Trump dilemma: What should Republicans do about the outsider who has captured their party’s presidential nomination this year?

For the most part, they’ve fallen in line. Even John McCain — who Trump mocked for being a prisoner of war — has fallen in line and endorsed Trump. The only holdouts are the Bush family, basically. But the article also contains an anecdote about Chris Christie — Trump’s top surrogate on the campaign trail — that is too good not to share.

Governor Chris Christie, of New Jersey, another of Trump’s opponents early in the campaign, has transformed himself into a sort of manservant, who is constantly with Trump at events. (One Republican told me that a friend of his on the Trump campaign used Snapchat to send him a video of Christie fetching Trump’s McDonald’s order.)

This raises several questions, which I shall elaborate on below:

  • They were at McDonald’s? Isn’t part of Trump’s appeal that he is a super-rich guy who only enjoys the finest things in life? McDonald’s isn’t even the best fast food restaurant.
  • “A sort of manservant” is an excellent phrasing, Ryan Lizza of The New Yorker.
  • And it’s not really just a joke! Who can forget when Trump told Christie to “get on the plane” or Christie’s face when he stood behind Trump or the fact that he had to say “No, I wasn’t being held hostage” at a Trump election-night event?
  • You can save on Snapchat, right? If anyone has video of this, please release it to the public.
  • Again: McDonald’s?

This is only the beginning. We have five more months of hilarious Chris Christie stories to look forward to.
