That is a real headline: Curt Schilling, a star pitcher on the Phillies in the 1990s, has been fired from his baseball analyst job by ESPN for an anti-transgender meme he shared on Facebook.

“ESPN is an inclusive company,” the company said in a statement. “Curt Schilling has been advised that his conduct was unacceptable and his employment with ESPN has been terminated.”

This isn’t the first time Schilling’s comments online have gotten him in trouble. Schilling is wont to share ridiculously silly memes on social media. It’s generally the kind of stuff you might find on the Facebook page of an older conservative person who is also kind of an asshole about it.

As we detailed in a post yesterday, Schilling has previously posted a weird Muslim/Nazi meme, then sent a long email to writer Dan Levy clarifying that he was only saying the percentage of Muslims who are “extremists” is similar to the percentage of Germans who were Nazis.

Schilling wrote on his blog earlier this week that people were looking to be offended by his comments. He has yet to comment on his firing by ESPN.
