Dr. Rachel Levine Confirmed as PA Physician General

Huge congrats are in order for Dr. Rachel Levine who was confirmed today as Physician General of Pennsylvania. Dr. Levine will be the first transgender person appointed to a Pennsylvania Governor’s cabinet.

“I am very proud to have served on the board of Equality PA with Dr. Levine,” said Jessica Rothchild, President of Equality PA’s Board. “She is an excellent physician and we look forward to her tenure as the Physician General of Pennsylvania.”

Dr. Levine currently serves as Professor of Pediatrics and Psychiatry at the Penn State College of Medicine and the Vice-Chair for Clinical Affairs and Chief of the Division of Adolescent Medicine and Eating Disorders at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital, Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. An expert in pediatrics and psychiatry, Dr. Levine’s career also includes founding the Penn State Hershey Eating Disorders Program. Additionally, Dr. Levine is a staunch advocate for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender rights.
