Phillies Extend Radio Contract

CBS Radio will continue to carry games next season.

Philadelphia Business Journal reports that the Phillies have extended their contract with CBS Radio through the 2015 season. A three-year-contract, signed in 2012, was to expire at the end of this season.

Terms of the extension were not disclosed. Officials on both sides said the extra year will give them a chance to negotiate the next long-term contract.

Dave Buck, senior vice president of marketing and advertising for the Phillies, said the two sides agreed on a one-year deal because time was running out on the current deal and it will give them more time to negotiate a long-term extension, hopefully well before the 2015 season ends.

“We were trying to get our ducks in a row and we’ll start negotiating a long-term deal right away,” Buck said. “We would hope to have something worked out by the All-Star Break [next July].”

Announcers Scott Franzke, Larry Andersen and Jim Jackson are expected to continue.
