More Depressing Phillies News: Jimmy Rollins Out With Hamstring Injury

Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins, having one of his best seasons in years, injured his hamstring in Monday night's loss. He'll be out at least 10 days.

The Phillies can’t catch a break, can they?

One of the bright spots in this awful Phillies season has been the play of Jimmy Rollins. He hasn’t been his 2007 MVP self, but he’s returned to his career form after a down 2013. Most of Rollins’ stats are almost in line with his career averages, and his defense has been stellar. If you like regular stats, he’s hitting .243 with 17 homers. If you’re into advanced stats, his WAR is the highest it’s been since 2008. And he broke Mike Schmidt’s franchise record for hits!

Well, now he’s hurt. Rollins hurt his hamstring in Monday night’s loss to the Pirates. The Inquirer reports Rollins will be out for at least 10 days.

The Phillies, 66-77, have only 19 games left.
