These days, we’re used to seeing Doug Collins as the Sixers’ head coach who saved the team from irrelevancy the last few years—only to be betrayed this year by Andrew Bynum’s knees. Once upon a time, though, he was the leader of the 1972 U.S. Olympic Basketball Team, the one that believed it got robbed in its game against the Soviets, and which refused to ever accept the silver medal for second place. Above, a new short documentary filmed 40 years after those games shows that Collins and the rest of the team are stubbornly sticking to their guns. No silver.
