PIFA My Heart: Special Deal for Wide Awake: A Civil War Cabaret

The fabulous Bearded Ladies Cabaret takes on the Civil War.

Welcome to my new few-weeks-long column that keeps an eye on all the gay goodies happening at this year’s Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts (PIFA). Later this week, I’m going to round up all the LGBTQ-related offerings in one post, but first I wanted to share this little tip I just received:

John Jarboe’s fantastic Bearded Ladies Cabaret will be performing Wide Awake: A Civil War Cabaret from March 28 to April 6, and I have a little discount code for ya. The sure-to-be-a-riot musical features the Knight Arts-funded cabaret revolutionaries taking on every silly thing from a Southern belle trapped in the world’s largest hoop-skirt dress to men growing the world’s longest beards and, if the photo above is any indication, there’ll be a few good Scarlett O’Hara impersonations, too. It’s an absolute must-see. To catch the first few shows for a discounted $20, purchase tickets here with the promo code “DIXIE.”
