Texting Ban One Year Later: 1300 Ticketed

In the year since Tom Corbett signed Pennsylvania’s ban on texting-and-driving, 1300 distractible motorists were ticketed. (And think of how many more didn’t get caught, based on how damn hard it is to catch someone in the act.) If charged, motorists receive $50 fines. The bad news in all this: Despite the new law, there were only two fewer fatalities this year (57) than there were in 2011.
