Philly 9th Best Biking City in the Country
Philadelphia, set to implement its own bikeshare program in 2014, has been ranked 9th among U.S. cities in WalkScore’s first ever bike rankings. The ranking was based on hills, bike lanes, destinations/road connectivity, and the prevalence of biking commuters. Based on the site’s heat maps, Philly ranked impeccably on hills, but pretty badly on bike commuting. So until suburbanites start high-tailing it in from the Main Line on fixies, we’ll probably never crack the top five. For the record, Philly is the fifth-most walkable city. The heat map below reflects Philly’s bike lane accessibility. [Atlantic Cities]
