Astronomers Are None Too Happy About Philly’s Light Show on the Parkway

Astronomers are the latest to speak out against artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer’s light show on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The show, titled “Open Air,” debuts Thursday night and runs through October 14th. Astronomers are upset because they say the show will disrupt natural rhythms and obscure the greatness of the starry sky. Previously, bird advocates were concerned that the light show would have a negative impact on the community’s avian population. The show kicks off at 8 p.m. [Inquirer]
