9/11 Memorial to be Dedicated on Schuylkill Trail

Next Tuesday—on the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on America—Philadelphia will get its own memorial to the terrible events of that day. The new 9/11 memorial will be located just south of the Chestnut Street bridge on the Schuylkill River Trail, and includes a piece of the World Trade Center that fell during the attacks. (Up in New York, a replacement for the Twin Towers is nearly at the end of its construction.) The steel beam is embedded in a granite base, and pays tribute to terrorism’s victims, including three Philadelphians who died in the attacks. The dedication ceremony will be at 1 p.m. [Uwishunu]
