Salmonella Fears Spark Wawa Fruit Recall

Fruit is being pulled from the shelves at 127 Wawa stores in four states, due to concerns about salmonella infection. Taylor Farms New Jersey recalled the fruit from stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland on Friday as part of an investigation of 103 known salmonella cases. The recall comes just a couple of weeks after Wawa—along with McDonald’s and Burger King—recalled apples due to listeria fears. Friday’s recall is aimed at packages of mango, strawberries, pineapples and watermelon, most with a sell-by date of Aug. 30. Packages of Wawa yogurt-and-mango parfait are also being pulled. Luckily, the breakfast hoagies remain absolutely safe for human consumption. [AP]
