Contractors Use Decoy Tractor-Trailer to Dupe Union Protesters

Union protesters tend to make life pretty difficult for contractors who use nonunion labor to build stuff in Philly. That’s what prompted two brothers working on a project at 12th and Wood to hire a decoy tractor-trailer to show up and distract the protesters who typically block entrance to the site when nonunion vehicles show up. So, while they were focused on the decoy, extra police were able to control the few protesters left as a massive crane crept into position at the property with ease. It cost the contractors an extra $30,000, but they say they still saved money on the deal. [Inquirer]
