Parents of Trans Kids Speak Out
A new episode of In the Life inspires the first It Gets Better video of its kind
This week, In the Life Media debuted a web-exclusive “It Gets Better” video featuring parents of transgender kids – the first of its kind. In the video, parents from PFLAG’s support group for families of transgender children share their personal struggles to understand their child’s needs and find support for both themselves and their families.
“Those early days were very difficult,” says Catherine, one of the parents. “I was scared. I felt alone. I felt somehow responsible for having done this to my child.”
Next month (April 1), the LGBT series will take a closer look at what it’s really like for these families to navigate school and their communities.
