AP Names PSU Scandal “Sports Story of the Year”
Penn State has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. Now, they’re in the news for being in the news. The Associated Press has named the ongoing scandal at Penn State the “Sports Story of the Year.” The ordeal also earned the sixth spot in the list of overall news stories of 2011. Sandusky’s case is going straight to trial, two university administrators will be tried for their alleged coverup, PSU brass is searching for a permanent replacement for Joe Paterno, and players are fighting and seizing out in the locker room all as the Nittany Lions prepare to take on recently scandalized Houston—also with an interim head coach—in the TicketCity Bowl.
