Perez Hilton Designs Shoes
You might say that these days Perez Hilton has been getting his kicks in a new way – be designing them. The blogger, who’s no stranger to controversy thanks to his unraveling of celebrity gossip, has added shoe designer to his to-do list.
He’s now working with ShoeDazzle‘s “Celebrity Shoe Design Program for Charity” for which Hilton has designed two new shoes for men and women. The company says that 100 percent of profits will be donated to GLSEN, a national education organization that helps to ensure safe schools for all students regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.
ShoeDazzle will also donate an additional $5 to GLSEN for every purchase made by first-time customers simply by using code “PEREZ” at checkout today (Nov. 15).
“I designed one amazing shoe that Carrie Bradshaw would drool over,” says Hilton. “But I also wanted to make a unisex and sophisticated sneaker that I could wear, too. …Buying some fierce shoes can do a lot of good, too, and that’s gonna make this holiday season truly faboosh.”
The first shoe Hilton designed, named “Sparkle,” is a black faux-suede pump with silver stud detailing on the heel, with platform and dual ankle straps. The second is a casual unisex silver metallic sneaker with stud embellishments and zipper detailing that he calls “Shine.”
“We are so excited to be displaying two celebrity designed shoes in our ShoeDazzle showroom this time around,” says ShoeDazzle COO Deborah Benton. “Perez’s passion and determination was great to work with and both of his shoes are sure to be a success with our members.”
In the past, ShoeDazzle has also partnered with other celebs like Carson Kressley, Jenny McCarthy, Carmen Electra and Kristin Chenoweth. The company also launched its first cause-marketing campaign in the fall of 2009, offering a pink pump benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. ShoeDazzle has also designed a special red pump and clutch to support WomenHeart and raise awareness for American Heart Month. This is the first time the company has donated proceeds to GLSEN.
