Jimmy Rollins Presser Slated for Noon Tomorrow

Let the offseason officially begin

Tomorrow, Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins will address the media in a press conference scheduled for noon. The event will interrupt a period of mourning Phillies fans are observing following the team’s World Series aspirations rupturing like Ryan Howard’s achilles tendon. Rollins will be a free agent and will have to sign a new contract with the Phils if he wants to stay in red pinstripes. He’s expected to be seeking a five-year contract in the neighborhood of $60 million. Sounds good if he’s going to bat lead-off, play shortstop, sell tickets, work the gate at Citizens Bank Park, pitch, catch and do play-by-play. But, if he’s looking for $12 million in 2016 so he can bat .231/.302/.361 and steal nine bases in 110 games then the Scoop isn’t holding his breath. [Crossing Broad]
