Ching-Yun Hu Performs for William Way

World-renowned pianist plays at the Ethical Society tonight

Ching-Yun Hu is a Taiwanese pianist who has been lauded for her eloquent and stylish approach to classical music. After studying at Julliard by the age of 14, she’s performed around the world with well-known orchestras and as a solo artist.

Tonight, Jan. 20 (7 p.m.), Hu performs a benefit concert for the William Way LGBT Community Center at the Ethical Humanist Society (1906 Rittenhouse Square) with an opening reception at 6 p.m. According to Christopher Bartlett, the center’s executive director, Hu will play selections from Ravel, Liszt, Chopin and Shubert.

“The center is thrilled to host such a talented artist for a benefit,” says Josh Kruger, the William Way’s development director. “And, to ensure that all of our diverse community can attend, some of our friends have stepped up to the plate and offered to purchase tickets to gift to local LGBT youth and others. Truly, this is a sign that the center will continue to welcome individuals of all walks of life.”
