Friday, November 5

Frank Sherlock, Carlos Soto Roman, Mytil Jagannathan and CAConrad join Warrior Writers Project at the AFSC Arch Street Meeting House (5-9 p.m.) to discuss the Windows and Mirrors Exhibition: Reflections on the War in Afghanistan.

William Way Community Center screens Call Me Malcolm, a documentary about a transgender student and his struggles with faith, love and identity (6:30 – 9:30 p.m.).

SOULFORCE is holding a LIFE Rally in Love Park to end LGBT suicides and other hate crimes. Join friends and family (8:30 – 10 p.m.) during this special symposium with a performance by singer/songwriter Ray Boltz.

Sex Dwarf gets wiggy with it tonight during a special fifth anniversary wig party celebrating the B52s. Out DJs Robert Drake and Marilyn Thomas get the party started at 9 p.m. with free drink specials and non-stop new wave at Fluid Nightclub.

Shake hits Tabu Lounge (9 p.m.) with Blaze, DJ Rodriguez and the hula-hoop Queen Diva. Count on lots of music, antics and drink specials until 2 a.m.

Saturday, November 6

Woodmere Art Museum opens John Folinsbee and American Modernism (which runs until March 6). Take a look at the New Hope painter’s life as he bridged Impressionism with Modernism in 20th Century American art.

Join Lotus Hill, a band headed by lesbians Christine Moll and Peg Carroll, who are raising funds for their next album at Sisters Nightclub (7 p.m.). Lotus Hill will perform new songs and covers live (9 p.m.) with a raffle to win a day in the studio with the band, as well as other merchandise.

Raise money for the Pennsylvania SPCA at the Bad Dog Ball at the Loews Hotel (9 p.m.-1 a.m.). Hosted by the Young Friends of the Pennsylvania SPCA, the cocktail party coincides with the Good Dog Gala also at the Loews.

Join DJ Hazmix at Passion for LGBT Night (9 p.m.-3 a.m.). DJs will be on deck all night with drink specials.

Shake it and Sip it for MANNA at Stir (10 p.m.- 2 a.m.). Half of the suggested $5 cover goes to MANNA for an evening of drinks, dancing and awareness just in time for the non-profit’s sweet annual fundraiser Pie in the Sky.

Celebrate the release of Bryan Ferry’s new album Olympia during a special launch party presented by Astralwerks at Voyeur Nightclub. Drew G. spins on the main floor following the Second Annual Philadelphia Leather Pride Pageant (Tripp spins hip hop on the mezzanine). Sunday, November 7

Catch the last evening of The Exonerated before it ends (3 p.m.) upstairs at the Adrienne. The compelling 90-minute play, produced by Raven Hill Productions, addresses the lives of the wrongly convicted on Death Row.

In honor of Roy Wood’s birthday next week, Sing Your Life…to the tune of ELO at Sara Sherr’s karaoke at Bob & Barbara’s (1509 South St.) starting at 9 p.m. Sara won for the greatest karaoke in the region in this year’s Best of Philly.
