GETTING OUTTA HERE: Springtime Getaways

Hello, Goods readers! Today, as I write, the sun is out, the chill is gone — for now, at least — and the anticipation of spring (and thus, spring break!) is in the air. And there’s a lot of spring out there to anticipate right now — like cherry blossom season in D.C.

I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the season than planting yourself amidst the thousands of delicate pink blooms perfuming the D.C. air. And our majestic Capitol does it up right with the National Cherry Blossom Festival from March 27th to April 11th. (Wanna see the April 10th parade? Call 1-800-551-7328 for tickets.) With the Loews Madison Hotel’s Cherry Blossom Blooms package, you can get a room just blocks from the White House, the National Mall, the Tidal Basin’s cherry blossoms and the Metrorail for just $189 a night, from March 11th to April 11th. The luxurious Park Hyatt is also offering a good deal — from March 5th until April 25th, $349 a night buys you a room upgrade, a pot of Cherry Blossom tea, and either valet parking or breakfast for two.

The road less taken here — though no less fragrant — is a trip to any of the stunning Nantucket Island Resort properties. Literally millions of sunshine-y daffodils bloom from early April until mid-May on the island, which celebrates its own Daffodil Festival from April 23rd to 25th. (And of course, adorable Nantucket is a certainly destination enough on its own, with art galleries and pubs and bike paths galore …) Rates at the properties, from historic mansions to
charming inns to private cottages on the harbor, begin at $125 a night with
the Hot Dates, Cool Rates promotion. Those who book by April 1st get spa and dining credits.
