Web Original: Style Report: Macys Gets Green and Spa Week Is Near
Macy’s is jumping on the eco-bandwagon with something pretty cool: In select Macy’s on the East Coast (including the Center City location) they are launching a mini-store called Beautiful Planet dedicated to selling beauty products that are good for Mother Earth and as natural as possible. Looks like they’ll have a bunch of products that we’ve seen before (Burt’s Bees, Pangea Organics, Origins) and some fresh new lines like Stella McCartney’s 100% organic line, Care, Terre d’Oc cosmetics and this cute little “facial to go” from Farmaesthetics that would make a great gift. Everything’s reasonably priced, too. Look for Beautiful Planet opening on Sunday.
The sign is up at the True Religion that’s opening on Walnut at 16th. There’s paper on the windows to hide all the goodness that’s going on. I’ll keep on checking and report back on the opening. Besides the outlet version at the Philadelphia Premium outlets in Limerick, this will be the first free-standing store in the area.
I prefer Spa Week to Restaurant Week, and it’s right around the corner. Actually, area spas and salons started taking appointments last week. This year, it’s running from October 13th to the 19th, and if you haven’t heard, it’s when area spas offer two or three treatments for $50. There are a few Philly Mag favorites on the list including our 2008 Best Of Winner, Joseph Anthony Retreat Spa, Pierre & Carlo, Richel D’Ambra, Calista Grand and AME. But log onto spaweek.org for a complete list and call the spas to book, like, now!
