Pulse: Previews: Mo’ Better Blues

Confronted with the spanking new, über-chic Quarter at the Tropicana, which itself piled atop the birth of the Borgata a few years back, stale Atlantic City casinos are playing catch-up. Showboat’s strategy? A multimillion-dollar version of renowned nightlife haunt the House of Blues. The largest HOB in the country, A.C.’s outpost has a casino, a poker room, a Southern-inspired restaurant (think Creole seafood jambalaya), a nightclub, a beach bar and an outdoor lounge. The biggest draw, though, is the multi-level music hall, where the lineup this summer boasts an eclectic mix of big-name acts: Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rusted Root, Master P, the Black Eyed Peas, the Wailers, and the Blues Brothers themselves, Dan Akroyd and Jim Belushi.
