Third Street Habit

January Bartle of Third Street Habit is scooping up a range of blazers. “My customers are starting to feel a bit sloppy in their unstructured dresses from the past few seasons,” she says. “A blazer is an easy way to update a favorite tunic.” Rag & Bone and 3.1 Phillip Lim, she says, showed off the look really well. Expect to also see “stunning watercolor-print dresses” from Sue Stemp and Elijah.

Sugarcube

The two trends that struck Elisa Buratto at Sugarcube were eco-friendly fabric, and what she calls “a pretty darn fun ’80s thing — a sort of homage to Keith Haring.” Her racks will include neon pink and yellow from smaller lines like Sunshine & Shadow, and dresses that show off a tighter silhouette.

“We were thrilled to see such gorgeous colors — a series of pale pastels — coming from our standby lines like Peter Som and Lanvin,” says Stefanie Lutzo, a co-owner with her husband, Michael, of one of Rittenhouse’s most chic boutiques. “What we responded to with both lines was how the designers stayed true to their signature looks — there was nothing fleeting or trendy about them.”

Leehe Fai

Leehe Fai Goldfarb says to expect lots of feminine, flirty dresses, but with a twist: Next spring’s crop from lines like Rebecca Taylor, she says, are all about bright colors, many with neutral accents. Other standouts? “Tracy Reese had a great update on the bubble dress, one that’s not so poufy and is fitted on top.”

KnitWit and Plage Tahiti

Ann Gitter, owner of Knit Wit and Plage Tahiti, loved the variety of dresses coming down the runway this spring. “They’re not all sleeveless, which is nice during those cooler, earlier months of spring,” she points out. She says waistlines are inching up, pants are narrowing, and necklines are moving toward squares and exaggerated U’s. For Knit Wit, she loved Miu Miu’s take on pink — “Imagine the most beautiful rose you’d want to send a friend, and that’s it,” she says. “It’s a pink that’s sophisticated, and very, very chic.” She’ll also be bringing in cashmeres — in grass green — from the relaunched Pringle line. For Plage Tahiti, Gitter loved the nuances in Rag & Bone’s collection, as well as the new line Elizabeth & James (from twinpreneurs Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen).

Kimberly Boutique

“Just wait until you see Alice + Olivia!” says Kimberly co-owner Jimmy Contreras. A+O first made a splash for its pants, but Contreras is in love with the line’s dresses — like a cocktail dress in one of the season’s hottest colors, emerald green. Contreras is also psyched to bring Lauren Conrad, the eponymous line from MTV’s reality-show ­darling, to 16th Street.
