Philly Party People Team Up for Prolific IndiGoGo Bash

Whether we’re at odds about Pride, or listening to drag queens bicker about who reigns supreme over what bar, sometimes it seems like Philly’s LGBT community is far from, well, a community. That’s why it’s so refreshing to see a gasp-inducing number of local event producers teaming up for William Way‘s annual IndiGoGo fundraiser.

Billed as Philly’s “fiercest funhouse and dance extravaganza,” the event brings together—are you ready for this—11 (11!) local LGBT-centric groups who will inject their own unique flavor into a fluid evening of gay-dance-party shenanigans. Taking over four dancefloors in Underground Arts will be 10 DJs brought to you by Stimulus, Josh Schonewolf Presents, NSFW Dance PartyMondo Trasho, Candela Sabados, and, of course, Gayborhood staple—and G Philly contributor—DJ Carl Michaels.

The evening also boasts “aerialists and pole dancers, spectacular black-light performances, body painting and drag stations, and a dozen sexy male and female go-go dancers”—all curated by Pulse Events, PhillyGayCalendar, The Welcoming Committee, Sleepover. The Party., and Cirque Manikk.

And you know what’s the very best part? All of them—the DJs, dancers, performers, everyone—are donating their time to show support for William Way.

Now that’s a show of community we can get behind—plus, it’s a great way to get a sampling of all the LGBT parties taking place in Philly throughout each month.

IndiGoGo takes place Saturday, July 26th, from 10 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. Tickets are $10 (in advance) to $20 (at the door), and can be purchased here.
