TONIGHT: Philadelphia’s Burlesque Battle Royale Kicks Off at Tabu

Philly party producer (and G Philly contributor) Josh Schonewolf and Liberty City Kings Drag and Burlesque Artistic Director Lascivious Jane are teaming up for Philadelpha’s Burlesque Battle Royale, a live competition to find Philly’s fiercest burlesque performer. Kicking off tonight, eleven showboys and girls will compete over the next 10 weeks, vying for the top prize, which Schonewolf tells me is $750, a showcase at RUBA Room and a gift certificate to Passional. Among those competing is Holly Ween, Gemini Rose and, all the way from NYC, Victor Devonne. Peek-a-Boo Revue‘s Joey Martini will join Schonewolf and Lascivious Jane at the judges’ table. 9 p.m., $8, Tabu Lounge and Sports Bar, 200 S. 12th St.

SOMETHING ELSE …

If you’re looking for something a little more low-key and informative, Philly attorney Angela Giampolo, Philly Gay Lawyer, and financial services professional Bradley W. Wood will lead a conversation about the fall of DOMA and how that affects Pennsylvania gay couples. Need a tiny bit more incentive? How about free drinks & hors d’oeuvres? 6 p.m., free, Cavanaugh’s, 421 S. Second St.
