If there are two words to get me off the couch and out of my blissfully air-conditioned bedroom, they are “free” and “food.” And I can’t be the only one. Luckily, if you’re a Yelp user there are all sorts of pick-me-ups to be had around the city. And all you have to do to get them is “Check In” on Yelp at any of the establishments below to snag your freebie.

At P S & Co (1706 Locust): Your gluttonous tastes might have you feeling like an impostor in this trendy, vegan, gluten-free cafe. But checking in for a free chocolate-dipped-salted-almond coconut macaroon to go with your nori wrap makes it all better.

At United by Blue (multiple locations): A free, thick, hand-pumped donut awaits you at this hybrid clothing store/coffee bar. Grab an iced coffee for your other hand and peruse their selection of understated-hipster sustainable apparel and goods in the meantime.

At Harvest Seasonal Grill and Wine Bar (200 S 40th Street): Come for the $3 Long Islands during Happy Hour, stay for the free flatbread. Something has to sop up that third drink.

At WokWorks (1935 Chestnut Street): Check in for 30% off your entire order at this new fast-casual Asian spot. Combine that with their free beer and tapas-style specials from 5-10 PM on Wednesday nights and you have yourself a helluva deal.

At Talula’s Daily (208 W Washington Square): You might not be able to score an outdoor seat under the Christmas lights at Talula’s, but you can certainly find a bench in Washington Square to munch on a free house-made cookie from their daily cafe.

At Max Brenner (1500 Walnut St): If your sweet tooth can stand a moment of gaudy chocolate tourist heaven, pop in for a free sample of Max’s chocolate.

At Sweet Box Cupcakes (339 S 13th St): Sweet Box’s rich and buttery treats have struck some cupcake snobs as overpriced, so get the most for your money with a free cupcake with any other purchase.

At Carina Tea and Waffles (3701 Chestnut St): 10% off your entire order might not seem like much, until you try one of Carina’s Belgian-style liege waffles and realize that they are worth every cent. Get the Matcha Waffle – melty green tea ice cream, fresh strawberries, and cookie crumbles make every deliciously chewy bite a unique indulgence.
