SLS International Will Include Corner Restaurant and Bar

Today’s splashy news is the announcement that Carl Dranoff is adding SLS International to South Broad Street and Philadelphia’s skyline. The 47-story tall hotel and condo tower will include a ground floor corner restaurant and bar space. So let the speculation begin, who will take this prime corner opposite the Kimmel Center?

One fun piece of speculation is that it could be Jose Andres. Andres, the James Beard award winning chef and culinary innovator is the culinary director for SLS Hotels. Andres has restaurants in the chain’s Beverly Hills and South Beach hotels. In New York, where SLS is opening is 2014, Andres won’t have a restaurant but is involved in finding the concept and chef.

Another interesting proposition, Michael Schwartz, another James Beard winner, of Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink fame also runs The Restaurant Michael Schwartz in The Raleigh Hotel, an SBE property. SBE is the parent company of SLS Hotels and Schwartz began his culinary career in Philadelphia. Could SLS International be his homecoming?

SLS International isn’t expected to open til 2015, so we have a lot of time to speculate.
