Olympic Specials

London 2012 mascots on new Olympic Stadium track

Just in case you haven’t seen enough Olympics-themed everything in the past month we at Foobooz are delighted to bring you a round up of Olympic-themed activities and food and drink specials starting this weekend (all in the colors of the Olympic rings). You are very welcome.

Starting this Friday July 27th and ending August 12th Bierstube Tsingtao will be offering Olympic Flights to London featuring four eight-ounce glasses of beer for $20 where each flight will represent a different Olympic country. The countries will rotate throughout the seventeen days so you can taste your way around the world.

Devil’s Den will be tapping a different World Beer Cup winner every day from July 27th to August 12th. A schedule of the tap list will soon be posted, but look for names like Nogne-O Porter, Schenider Original, Yard’s ESA, Ballast Point Sculpin, Troegs’ Troegenator and Founder’s Breakfast Stout.

During the Olympics McGillin’s Olde Ale House will be serving up a few specials. Pimm’s Cup will be $4 throughout the games and during the National Anthem any time America wins a gold medal Stoudt’s Gold will be $3. They will also be serving a Red White & Blue cocktail for $5 featuring a red and white striped, blue-rimmed glass topped with blueberries. Rotating food specials will include London favorites like fish and chips and mushroom pie.

This Friday the 27th Moonlight Movies in Mount Airy, the weekly event where free movies are played outside in the Lovett Library Park, will be playing the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremonies on their big screen at 7:30pm. The Mini-Trini truck will also be in attendance for hungry viewers.

The Vendy Awards or, as we like to call them, the Olympics of Food Trucks will be this weekend. On Saturday the 28th from 3-7pm a dozen local street vendors will compete for the title of best savory or sweet food truck. Be sure to buy tickets before the event and cheer on your favorite athlete, er, mobile chef.
