Street Team Finds its Soul in Mt. Airy

Foobooz-Street-Team-full-f8b8zRecently the Street Team went searching for southern soul food and found it at Geechee Girl Rice Café, a BYO on Germantown Ave in Mt. Airy.

The appetizers that Chef Valerie Erwin puts out are reason enough to visit. Not to be missed are the Fresh Corn & Okra Fritters served with a tomato chipotle sauce. With the perfect mix of a delicate, crispy crust and a light filling inside that tasted so fresh we swore the veggies were picked only minutes before, these divine fritters immediately transported us to another world. Not to be outdone was the Crispy Hoppin’ John, a generous and harmonious dish of pan-fried rice with black eyed peas and ham that showcased why rice is the specialty of the house.

Souls satisfied, the Street Team left knowing they would return soon to this little piece of heaven.
