Philly Rep. Brendan Boyle: Joe Biden Is Running for President

Boyle, a freshman Congressman representing the 13th district, tweeted this morning that a source told him Biden would run. If so, Biden will announce soon.

Many political observers think it might be too late for Vice President Joe Biden to jump into the presidential race. Frontrunner Hillary Clinton has been able to raise a ton of money already, while Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders has gained momentum. If Clinton has the Democratic establishment and Sanders has the cranky old white man vote, where does Biden fit in?

Then again, many Obama bundlers have not gone for Clinton. And Biden has reportedly told allies to be ready. And now, comes this tweet, from Philadelphia Rep. Brendan Boyle.

Oh snap! Just when things got #Chillary, we started to #FeeltheBern. Now here comes #Joementum!

Boyle couldn’t be reached for comment. A native of Philadelphia, Boyle is in his first term in Congress. Previously, he represented the 170th district in the state house from 2009 to 2015, before resigning to serve in Congress. The 170th contains parts of Northeast Philly near Montgomery County, as well as Rockledge and part of Abington.

He now represents the 13th Congressional district in Pennsylvania. Boyle defeated three challengers (Marjorie Margolies, Daylin Leach and Valerie Arkoosh) in the primary last year with 41 percent of the vote, then cruised to election over Carson “Dee” Adcock in the general election with 66 percent.

Boyle praised Biden earlier this year after the VP addressed the House Democratic caucus at the Society Hill Sheraton. “I thought Biden’s speech was one of the best defenses of Democratic policies that I have heard in a long time,” Boyle told the Daily News.
