Cops: Man Steals Tip Jar, Then Tries to Rob Another Store

Police say a man stole the tip jar from a Northeast Philly hoagie shop, then attempted to rob a gas station 10 minutes later.

Philadelphia Police have released video of multiple attempted robberies that took place just 10 minutes apart in Far Northeast Philadelphia late last month. The man attempted to rob two stores, and stole a tip jar from one.

According to the police account, a man entered the Freshworks at Knights and Woodhaven roads and threatened an employee with a knife. After being refused money, he stole the tip jar.

The man, cops say, then attempted to rob the Getty Gas Station at 8789 Frankford Avenue about 10 minutes later. That’s just just south of the entrance to I-95 at Academy Road.

A 62-year-old employee told police the man brandished a knife and attempted to rob the store. The employee turned him away, and he fled.

Police released the following description:

White male, beard, 5’11″-6’0″, thin build, wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt with a red t-shirt underneath, black sweatpants, gray shoes, and sunglasses.
