SEPTA to Begin Suspending All Bus Service (Updated)
The transit agency tweets it's going to begin suspending all service at 10 a.m.
[Update: 9:45 a.m.] SEPTA gave a press conference at around 9:30 with an update on the system. Here’s a summary:
- Buses will work to finish the route that they’re on starting at 10 a.m., but then service will completely shut down. “We have too many buses that are getting stuck,” SEPTA deputy GM Jeff Knueppel. “They’re also impeding the city’s ability to clear streets.” When service comes back up, SEPTA will likely have to restart with a modified bus service. The goal is to get some of the bus system back up and running “earlier than tomorrow morning.”
- Trolleys are running, with delays.
- Norristown High-Speed Line running, but it may have to be shut down if conditions worsen.
- The Broad Street Subway and Market-Frankford El are “your best bet,” and are running. They ran all night.
- CCT service suspended at noon except for dialysis and medical appointments.
- Regional Rail trains are running with 30-60 minute delays. The railroad schedule may need to be modified later due to the weather.
- All passes will be cross-honored; you can use your bus pass on the train, subway, etc.
- Another update from SEPTA will come around noon.
