How will the Eagles use Nnamdi Asomugha in 2012? Will Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie have the same tackling issues Asante Samuel had? And what are the chances that undrafted free agent Cliff Harris makes the roster? Answering those questions and more in this breakdown of the Eagles cornerback situation.

The Eagles had quality receivers in name only last season. Jackson wasn’t himself because of the contract situation and Jeremy Maclin didn’t hit his stride until the last handful of games following his health scare.
Consider: Maclin’s touchdowns were cut in half, scoring five in 2011 after finding the end zone 10 times the year prior. Jackson gained almost 100 yards less than the season before despite catching 11 more balls, and his four receiving TDs were the lowest for him since his rookie season.
As I noted earlier, wide receivers coach David Culley believes Cooper also would have flourished a good deal more if not for the lockout, and says he has benefitted significantly from this offseason.
In a season full of expectations dashed, the wideouts took a back seat to no one. The group should return to its non-distracted form.

It’s hard to believe less than a year has passed since the Eagles traded Kevin Kolb to the Arizona Cardinals.
At the time, it seemed like Kolb would finally get his chance. After sitting patiently behind Donovan McNabb, suffering an injury in the first game of the 2011 season and getting passed over for Michael Vick, Kolb signed a six-year, $65M contract and appeared set to be the Cardinals’ signal-caller for years to come.
But things didn’t exactly go according to plan.

Among the many who feel Michael Vick needs to tweak his style of play for the Eagles to be successful, we can now count the President of the United States.
Nnamdi Asomugha arrived at Lehigh Wednesday afternoon and discussed how he’s been spending his time since the Eagles ended OTAs and mini-camps in June. The Birds’ starting cornerback spent some time with Barack Obama recently, and the pair actually talked football.
Asked if Obama had any advice for the Eagles, Asomugha, surprisingly, said yes.
“He told me to tell Vick to slide,” Asomugha said with a laugh.

LeSean McCoy arrived at training camp weighing in at 211 pounds and proclaiming that he is in better shape than he was in last year, when he soared up the rankings to become one of the best backs in the game. The goal, he says, is to take the next step.
“Next step, I want to be considered as the best back in the league,” said McCoy. “I think I have a lot of room for improvement. Guys talk about players as the best backs — you probably say [Adrian Peterson] or [Arian] Foster or [Ray] Rice. I want to be one of them guys at the end of the day where they say, “McCoy.”
