Fresh Market in Chestnut Hill Gets Grand-Opening Date

It brings 90 new jobs to the area.

The Fresh Market has set a date for opening its new store in Chestnut Hill. The 21,000-square-foot location at 8208-18 Germantown Avenue will open January 27. It’ll bring 90 new jobs to the area.

If you’ve never been to one, it’s a bit like Whole Foods — high-quality food, good prepared items, lots of good-looking produce and prices on the higher-end of the scale. Fresh Market touted its “unparalleled product selection and expert customer service” and “more than 200 imported and domestic cheeses” in a news release about the store opening.

“We are excited to open our new store in Philadelphia and to expand our reach in Pennsylvania,” said Rick Anicetti, CEO of Fresh Market in a statement. “We look forward to introducing The Fresh Market’s concept of quality, great tasting food, excellent customer service and a distinctive atmosphere to an expanded customer base, and we look forward to offering neighboring communities an inspiring new food shopping experience.”

The grand opening will feature chef demonstrations, food sampling and drawings for Fresh Market gift cards. A sample-sized bag of the company’s gourmet coffee and a reusable shopping bag will be free to the first 1,000 customers.
