The Eagles have shipped Dion Lewis to the Cleveland Browns for linebacker Emmanuel Acho.

It was no secret that the 22-year-old Lewis was on the block. Chip Kelly sees three quality running back options in LeSean McCoy, Bryce Brown and second-year back Chris Polk. The 5-8, 195-pound Lewis apparently did not fit the bill for the new head coach.

The Geno Smith conversation is not just being had on talk radio, in bars, and on your favorite blog. Turns out, it has seeped through the NovaCare walls and into the weight room as well.

“I have been hearing about that, honestly, too. Geno Smith was a great player at West Virginia. He has done some great things. He could probably fit right in with this offense,” said DeSean Jackson in an interview with NFL Network.

In five of the last six drafts, the Eagles have made a first-round trade.

In three of those instances (2009, 2010, 2012), they traded up for Jeremy Maclin, Brandon Graham and Fletcher Cox, respectively. In 2007 and 2008, the Eagles traded out of the first round.

So while we continue to discuss and analyze what the Eagles might do with the No. 4 pick, the prospect of a trade definitely exists. Even though this is not considered a top-heavy draft, all it takes is one team looking to move up.

The obvious questions are: Who might those teams be? And what could the Eagles get in return?

While the additions of Bradley Fletcher and Cary Williams this offseason takes a little bit of the edge off, I would argue that cornerback remains the greatest position of need for the Eagles in the short-term. There are simply too many question marks right now, and no sure-fire solutions on the roster.

Odds are they will be looking to add at least one corner in the draft. But who? And where?

During a brief interview with Steve Wyche of NFL Network, Chip Kelly touched on a variety of topics, including Michael Vick, the draft and roster-building.

Asked about Vick, Kelly pointed to the Eagles’ banged-up offensive line in 2012.

“Mike can still play,” he said. “When you evaluate a quarterback, you have to evaluate everything. The losing of three or four offensive linemen for the season, he took a lot of hits. You as a quarterback, when you drop back, hope that guy’s going to be blocked, and when we miss a block and he ends up getting hit, it’s not the quarterback’s fault.”

Sheldon Richardson hasn’t traveled the straightest path to get to this point.

Considered one of the top defensive linemen in the country coming out of high school in 2009, the St. Louis native originally chose to play for University of Missouri but was academically ineligible, and had to attend junior college instead. He finally joined the Tigers for the 2011 season but a shoulder injury slowed him down.

Richardson finally hit his stride last year. posting 75 tackles — 10.5 for loss — and 4.5 sacks. The disruptive  interior lineman garnered second-team All-SEC honors. He is considered one of the top linemen in the draft.

And today, a league source confirmed that the South Carolina running back was in town for an official pre-draft visit with the Eagles.
