The Philadelphia Eagles’ 2016 NFL schedule continues this week as the team is set to play the Baltimore Ravens (7-6) on Sunday. The Eagles (5-8) are looking to put an end to their four-game losing streak.

This week’s game marks Philadelphia’s final road contest of the season. If the Eagles lose, they’ll finish the year with a 1-7 record in away games. Their sole road win this season so far came over the Chicago Bears (3-10) in Week 2.

There’s reason to believe the Eagles won’t break their losing streak this Sunday, and not just because it’s a road game. The biggest challenge for the Eagles will be squaring off against Baltimore’s top-ranked run defense. The Ravens could force the Eagles to abandon the run and make Philadelphia one dimensional. Carson Wentz could be tasked with throwing a lot of pass attempts yet again.

The Eagles aren’t a team that can win without help from their run game. Philadelphia is 0-6 in games where they’ve gained less than 100 yards and 5-2 in the ones they did hit the century mark. Making matters more difficult for the Eagles is that they’re dealing with a number of significant offensive line and running back injuries.

Sunday’s matchup has the makings of an ugly game. While Baltimore’s defense is good, their offense is not. Jim Schwartz’s unit could look to bounce back this week. This tilt could feature a defensive struggle.

The result of this game doesn’t matter for the Eagles in the sense that Philadelphia has already been virtually eliminated from the playoffs. With that in mind, the Eagles can still hope to see some development from some of their young players, such as Wentz. It’s also important for players to show effort and that they haven’t quit on head coach Doug Pederson.
