The Philadelphia Eagles return from the bye to face the Detroit Lions in a Week 5 matchup at Ford Field. The Birds are trying to stay undefeated after starting off the 2016 NFL season with a 3-0 record. We’ll periodically update this thread throughout the game with highlights, drive summaries, score updates, and more. Feel free to jump in the comments below.

FINAL SCORE: Eagles lose to the Lions, 24-23.

4:04 – Wentz goes deep on his first attempt of the drive and it’s picked off by Darius Slay. That’s game. Eagles drop to 3-1.

4:00 – FIELD GOAL: Lions 24, Eagles 23. The Lions take the lead with a short field goal.

3:51 –  Ryan Mathews fumbles on third down when the Eagles had a chance to pick up a first and put the game away. Detroit recovers. Killer time for Philadelphia to commit their first turnover of the season.

3:34 – FIELD GOAL: Eagles 23, Lions 21. Sturgis drills the 49-yard kick. The Eagles have a lead for the first time all day.

3:33 – The Eagles say McKelvin (hamstring) and Brooks (cramps) will return to the game after leaving early due to injury.

3:24 – Fletcher Cox erupts through Detroit’s offensive line and misses Stafford but the quarterback gets taken down by Vinny Curry. Key play by the Eagles’ defense to knock the Lions out of field goal position and force a punt.

3:18 – END OF THE THIRD QUARTER.

3:08 – The Eagles are using Malcolm Jenkins, not Brooks, at the nickel cornerback spot with Jaylen Watkins filling in at safety.

3:02 – FIELD GOAL: Eagles 20, Lions 21. The Birds are forced to settle for a kick after Green-Beckham drops a would-be touchdown pass on third down. Sturgis nails the 33-yard attempt.

3:00 – Stafford drops the football as he tries to take off running and the Eagles recover the fumble in scoring range. Bradham was the one who scooped the ball up.

2:55 – Nigel Bradham is back in the game after sitting out in the first half. Seems like the Eagles were punishing him. Jalen Mills, not Ron Brooks, is filling in at cornerback for an injured Leodis McKelvin (hamstring).

2:48 – TOUCHDOWN: Eagles 17, Lions 21. Wentz throws a short pass to Josh Huff after the Eagles march down the field. Nice drive nine-play, 75-yard drive by Philly that featured key catches by Nelson Agholor and Dorial Green-Beckham.

2:40 – The Birds have the ball to start the second half.

2:30 – The Eagles have been penalized a lot more often than the Lions.

2:26 – FIELD GOAL: Eagles 10, Lions 21. Caleb Sturgis nails a 50-yard attempt to end the first half. What a weird drive. END OF THE SECOND QUARTER.

2:19 – Wentz hits Matthews with a great back shoulder throw along the sideline but there’s a penalty flag. The officials call “illegal man downfield” on No. 98, who is Connor Barwin, which doesn’t make any sense because he’s not on the field. Then the refs review the catch and pick up the flag entirely, giving the Eagles a first down in the process by allowing the catch to stand. Very weird sequence from the officials.

2:02 – TOUCHDOWN: Lions 21, Eagles 7. Stafford connects with Marvin Jones in the back of the end zone.

2:00 – The Eagles get to Stafford on 3rd-and-9 in the red zone but Fletcher Cox accidentally rips off the quarterback’s helmet and it’s a new set of downs for Detroit. That kind of day for the Eagles’ defense.

1:55 – On third down, Kendricks misses a tackle on Riddick. The ball appears to be short of the sticks but the officials give the Lions a first down. Doug Pederson challenges the call and it’s reversed. The Lions go for it on fourth down and get it.

1:43 – TOUCHDOWN: Eagles 7, Lions 14. The Birds are on the board after Wentz connects with Ryan Mathews on a short touchdown pass. Good drive from Philadelphia to respond to a two-score deficit.

1:36 – END OF FIRST QUARTER

1:29 –  TOUCHDOWN: Lions 14, Eagles 0. Stafford connects with Riddick again for a score, this time on a screen. The Lions went 80 yards in nine plays. Philadelphia’s defense suddenly isn’t looking so great.

1:19 – Carson Wentz almost throws the first interception of his career but a Lions defender fails to make the catch. The Eagles are forced to punt after Wentz is sacked on third down.

1:10 – TOUCHDOWN: Lions 7, Eagles 0. Not a great start for Jim Schwartz and the Eagles defense: 75 yards allowed on 11 plays. Matthew Stafford connected with Theo Riddick in the end zone to put Detroit on the board first. Mychal Kendricks was beaten in coverage.

1:00 – Eagles win the coin toss and defer. Lions ball first.

12:10 –  A few interesting notes from ESPN insider Adam Caplan.

11:35 – Eagles DT Bennie Logan is active despite being listed questionable on the Eagles’ final injury report. The Lions are without several key players due to injury, as expected.
