Report: Eagles Show Interest In Chris Ballard

Add one more name to the list of potential candidates to be Chip Kelly’s right-hand personnel man.

Per Adam Schefter, the Eagles have requested permission to interview Kansas City Chiefs director of player personnel Chris Ballard.

Ballard has 14 years of experience, including the past two with Andy Reid and the Chiefs. He spent 11 seasons as a scout with the Chicago Bears and one more as their director of pro scouting.

The Bears are said to be very interested in Ballard for their GM opening, and Ballard already turned down a chance to interview with the New York Jets.

Interesting note about Ballard in the Chicago Tribune that Kelly would likely find attractive:

One executive who has worked with Ballard complimented his method of working closely with assistant coaches — which also speaks to spending seven formative seasons as an assistant at Texas A&M-Kingsville.

On its surface, the Bears position would offer more control as Chicago is still looking to hire a new head coach.

There have now been three names linked to the Eagles’ opening: Ed Marynowitz, Sheldon White and Ballard.
