Do Yoga and Zumba at This Free West Philly Health Fair and Block Party

United Community Clinic, a free healthcare clinic hosted by UPenn students, is hosting a health fair on August 25.

Some of us take our ability to go to the doctors whenever we need to for granted — and it’s easy to do that because when you have healthcare, not having it really isn’t on your radar. That’s what makes services such as the United Community Clinic, a free health clinic run by UPenn students providing health services for underserved patients in West Philly, so important. Later this month, they’re hosting a health-fair-and-block-party soirée and, naturally, everyone is invited.

Taking place on Saturday, August 25, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the First African Presbyterian Church, stations will be set up throughout the day touching on a myriad of health issues, including nutrition education, dental services, hypertension consulting, and social work — just to name a few. Additionally, there will be yoga and Zumba, food and drinks, as well as raffles and prizes — including gift cards, bike helmets, and school supplies. All of this is in the United Community Clinic’s effort to promote health in the local community.

If you’re interested in checking out the health fair, just swing by at any point throughout the day for a dose of health and happiness in West Philly. If you’re interested in dropping in for Zumba, those classes will be running from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. And if you’re just in need of a health clinic, sans all the celebration, you can find United Community Clinic volunteers every Monday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the First African Presbyterian Church, located at 4159 West Girard Avenue.
