This West Philly Jump Rope Event Includes Açai Bowls and Salads

The event is targeted at women of color in West Philly as a way to raise awareness around heart disease.


Attention, attention: Cancel your Saturday morning plans. Something better has come up, and it involves returning to your favorite playground activity: jump rope.

On April 28, Jump for Love bringing together women of color for a day filled with jump rope fitness. The purpose of the day is obviously, first and foremost, a fun time — but also to raise awareness around heart disease in partnership with the American Heart Association, as woman of color are some of the most at-risk for heart disease.

The day will be hosted by Get Fresh DailyGlobal Leadership Academy Charter School’s GetHealthyGLA , and the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Rho Theta Omega Chapter. The morning will kick off with açai bowl breakfast from Stripp’d Juice, before diving into different fitness stations around the grounds of Global Leadership Academy. At noon, the day will close with a totally plant-based salad bowl lunch from Gangster Vegan.

And yes, you’d better believe those fitness activities will include double Dutch jump roping led by Philly Girls Jump. I mean, how fun does this look?

Other activities, including hopscotch, Chinese jump rope, and limbo will be led by the folks of Next Level Personal Training. Tickets are $20 per person, but girls ages 6 to 12 are just $5 with the purchase of an adult ticket. You can score your tickets here.
